Attendance, Cancellation, & Fee Policy

  • Fee is $185 for 50 minutes, $220 for 60 minutes, $275 for 75 minutes. No sliding scale or insurance at this time.

  • Late cancellations are sessions canceled less than 7 days before the scheduled session time. Fee is equal to your standard session fee.

  • You may cancel up to 4 sessions per calendar year without paying the session fee as long as you provide a week's notice. If you cancel any sessions beyond those 4 for any reason, you will be responsible for the cancellation fee even with advance notice. For clients who attend on an every other week basis, you may cancel 2 sessions a calendar year without paying the session fee as long as you provide a week's notice.

  • 1 late cancellation emergency exception is granted every year without charge for cancellations owing to injury and illness of yourself or a family member.

    Why this Policy?

  • There are many kinds of therapy. I offer a specialized, depth-oriented, trauma informed somatic therapy that benefits from consistent attendance at the scheduled date and time. Therefore, I require clients make the commitment to attend therapy weekly or every other week at their agreed upon appointment time.

  • Because of other professional commitments my practice is very limited. Each client takes one of the limited appointment times and spots and therefore is expected to attend regularly. Regular attendance also allows me more time to regulate my own nervous system and disconnect while balancing many personal and professional tasks as it decreases the large administrative load, urgency culture, and financial uncertainty that comes with last minute texts, emails, voicemails to reschedule or late cancel. While my waitlist has grown as I’ve received more specialized training/consultation in somatic experiencing, racial justice, & gender, sexual, relational diversity, it is not ethical to schedule new therapy clients from the waitlist to fill in a cancelled session if I am unable to continue working with them.

Social Justice, Anti-Oppressive, Decolonizing Practice Values

  • My practice is experiential, kink-friendly, sex-positive, queer, decolonizing, anti-racist, and politicized. I work with issues of gender, sexual, relational diversity and aim to unwind patterns of internalized homophobia, white body supremacy, transphobia, colonization, mononormativity in the body.

  • If you deeply align with a politicized somatic approach to healing trauma, oppression, and colonization in the body, please do not hesitate to reach out & schedule an intro call. If you are not open to discussing issues of gender, sexuality, race and patterns of systemic oppression I am less likely to be a good fit.

  • Please note, as a somatic therapist my practice is more oriented to embodied experiential work. If you are looking for a more general talk therapy or short-term structured cognitive-behavioral approach, I am unlikely to be a good fit.

  • I have a very comprehensive intake process that inquires about your racial, social, ancestral, gender, sexual, relational identity and history, as well as degree of alignment with values around anti-racism, sex-positivity, gender-affirmation, queer identity, decolonization, & broader anti-oppression work towards the goal of decolonizing the body & collective liberation

    Teletherapy

  • Teletherapy works best when, to the best of your ability given your circumstances, you are able to attend the teletherapy session in a place where you have some space, safety, privacy, and good internet connection for video sessions. I encourage you to create a space for yourself to the best of your ability that you can access at our regular time and place

  • Please position your video so that I can see your body (not just your face) as this helps with somatic therapy to track your nervous system in real time.

  • Unless arranged otherwise in advance by prior agreement, all teletherapy sessions take place though video on Simple Practice. I do not conduct teletherapy through phone calls except in rare cases.

  • For reasons of safety, confidentiality, and liability, I do not provide teletherapy if you are on a bike, walking, in a car, or otherwise not in a safe, secure, private setting w/o interruption.

  • If finding a safe and private place to have teletherapy sessions is an issue, please discuss this with me in the intro call prior to beginning sessions. If a previously safe place is no longer accessible or no longer safe, please let me know ASAP so we can discuss alternatives.

  • If you are doing relational therapy, all members of the relationship need to be in the same room
